Adopt Your Well

#MyWellMyWellness

In the last few days, Tiswadi taluka and parts of Ponda experienced a water crisis like never before. The people of Panjim suffered a lot due to water shortage after two major pipelines coming from the Opa water project were washed away in a landslide. There wasn’t a drop of water for more than a week, thus inconveniencing the daily life of citizens.

Most of the Goan families whether in villages or cities have wells, the water from which was potable. Today most of our wells have either gone dry or are contaminated. This has happened mainly because of our negligence and negligence on the part of the Government in taking steps to take care of our water resources.

The recent water crisis was a lesson for each one of us, and it would only be wise to learn from this disaster. It is time that each one of us looked after our wells (anyone with a well in their homes, villages etc.), because in such crisis it would be wise to be self-sufficient.

Keeping this in mind, we at Goa ForGiving have come up with a campaign to restore our wells and help people be self-sufficient. We encourage people to adopt their well and look after it. At the end of the day, when we look after our well it will only help us in our wellness.

To make the campaign exciting, we are throwing a video/photography competition asking people to share their well story. The story could be personal or scripted one to create awareness of the importance of a ‘well’.

The competition is open to all to participate. The rules are as follows:

1. Shoot a video/photograph of your ‘well’ story. It can be a personal story or a scripted one (refer to the promo vide for example)
2. The video should not exceed the time limit of 1 min
3. Post it on Social Media (Facebook, twitter, Instagram) with #MyWellMyWellness and #AdoptYourWell

The most creative video/photograph will win exciting prizes. More than prizes let us do it to save ourselves and our natural resources which are on a verge of depletion.
